Hoe lang hebben we nog op deze aarde? Volgens een eeuwenoud volk uit Mexico niet lang meer. De Maya's voorspelden een grote verandering in 2012: Het jaar Nul. Niemand weet wat er gaat gebeuren. Maar daar komt nu verandering in.
Het ontbrekende puzzelstuk is gevonden! En iedereen wil het hebben. De oude amateurarcheoloog Peter Hellinga vindt in Mexico een eeuwenoude Maya Codex. In dit kostbare document wordt onthuld wat er in het magische jaar 2012 gaat gebeuren. Direct na zijn spectaculaire vondst wordt Peter belaagd. Hij waarschuwt zijn kleinkinderen Hidde (17) en Twan (16) en neemt hen in vertrouwen. Zij moeten de codex in veiligheid brengen, mocht Peter iets overkomen.
Het avontuur begint wanneer Hidde en Twan op Schiphol hun opa staan op te wachten, maar alleen zijn bagage komt aan. Waar is Peter, wat is er gebeurd en waar is de codex? Samen met vriendin Masha (16) en het mysterieuze Maya-meisje Felix (15) gaan de jongens op onderzoek uit. Er volgt een bloedstollende race tegen de klok om de codex en Peter Hellinga te vinden. Beschikken de jongeren over het lef en de inventiviteit om dit avontuur tot een goed einde te brengen?

How long we have on this earth? According to an ancient people in Mexico not long. The Mayans predicted a major change in 2012: The Year Zero. Nobody knows what will happen. But this is now changing.
The missing puzzle piece is found! And everyone wants it. The old amateur archaeologist Peter Hellinga in Mexico is an ancient Mayan codex. This precious document revealed what happened in the magical year 2012 is going to happen. Immediately after his spectacular find is Peter attacked. He warns his grandchildren Hidde (17) and Twan (16) and take them into confidence. They have the codex to safety, in case something happened to Peter.
The adventure begins when Hidde and Twan at Schiphol their grandfather are waiting, but only his luggage arrives. Where is Peter, what happened and where is the Codex? Together with her friend Masha (16) and the mysterious Mayan girl Felix (15) are the guys to investigate. There follows a thrilling race against the clock to the codex and Peter Hellinga found. Do the young people the courage and inventiveness to this adventure to a successful conclusion?
