That outrageous movie is back to shock and delight you once again.


Made in 1973, this independently produced time capsule documentary deals with the subject of marijuana harvesting, cultivation, transportation, distribution and finally inhalation in the United States. The bulk of the film is constructed as a series of adventures by a group of college boys, using cameras
to document their investigations into how to secure a large supply of marijuana. They interview various American growers ('experts'), test 'wild' marijuana in the American mid-West, then travel to Mexico to seek out the 'super weed' cultivated in the hills outside of Acapulco, and eventually smuggle it into the States.

The film at times has a mock-documentary feel, taking an almost tongue n’ cheek approach towards much of the material. Using an overly dry narrator to relate detailed factual information on hemp cultivation while placing the camera in the hands of giggly, doped up college kids seems a strange stance to take, but it does make the message and the subject easier to enjoy.
