Описание: Лоция - описание морей и океанов и их прибрежий во всех отношениях,со всеми находящимися на берегах приметными местами и знаками и сподробным указанием мореплавателю путей для безопасного и успешного плавания и пристанищ у берегов, равно как средств и способов, которыми мореплаватель может пользоваться в его нуждах на каждом берегу в каждом данном месте. В общей Л. океанов излагаются рельеф дна и свойства грунта, температура и соленость вод океана, температура и давление воздуха, характер волн и приливов и отливов, распределение морских и воздушных течений и, в зависимости от них, наивыгоднейшие пути для океанских переходов в данное время года, распределение штормов, пути ивремени ураганов и правила для избежания центра последнего,распределение элементов земного магнитизма и применение их к показаниям компаса. Каждое же полное руководство по Л. отдельных морей или океанских прибрежий состоит из общей части и специальных наставлений. В общей части дается физико-географическое описание моря и берегов,система ограждения опасностей и маячного освещения, организация штормовых и туманных сигналов и предсказания погоды и, наконец,главнейшие приморские пункты в промышленном, торговом и военном отношении. В специальной части - все отмели, банки, рифы, отличительные глубины, указания как располагать курсами судна на переходе от одногопункта к другому, местные течения и ветра, воды берегов и способы распознавания их с моря при различных обстоятельствах, виднеющиеся на пути маяки и знаки как на море, так и на берегу, местные уклонения магнитной стрелки, входы в порта и выходы из них, места якорных стоянок, лоцманские станции и для каждого порта описание народонаселения, промышленности, торговли, естественных произведений,склады угля, дров, водоснабжение, пути сообщения на берегу,административные и общественные учреждения и т. п. На каждом корабле руководства по Л. столь же необходимы, как и карты. В данной раздаче содержатся лоции английского издания службы гидрографии.
