La cantante e compositrice Aubrey Johnson presenta il suo secondo album, The Lively Air, che segna il suo ritorno alla composizione dopo diversi anni dedicati principalmente alla registrazione e all'interpretazione di brani di altri artisti (in particolare Lyle Mays, Billy Childs, Alex Sipiagin, Sara Serpa e altri). Alla guida del suo sestetto, composto dalla violinista Tomoko Omura, dal bassista Matt Aronoff, dal batterista Jay Sawyer, dal polistrumentista Alex LoRe e dal pianista Chris McCarthy, Johnson crea arrangiamenti squisitamente elaborati, caratterizzati da sonorità ricche e mutevoli e da linee melodiche estese, in cui ogni strumento è calibrato attorno alla sua voce.
