est une chanteuse britannique, reconnaissable à son timbre de voix très rauque.
Bénéficiant d'une voix rocailleuse, elle vend 50 millions de disques à travers le monde.
Ses plus grands succès sont It's a Heartache (1977) et Total Eclipse of the Heart (1983),
tous deux écoulés à plusieurs millions de copies chacun.
Elle a également signé Holding out for a hero en 1984,
pour la bande originale du film Footloose.
