Bill Wyman, bassiste historique des Rolling Stones, est de retour aux affaires avec un nouvel album intitulé Drive My Car.

On ignore si le fait d’avoir participé au Hackney Diamonds de ses anciens acolytes l’a inspiré d’une quelconque façon, mais les faits sont là : à 87 ans, Bill Wyman est de retour aux affaires et on ne peut que s’en réjouir.

L’analogie s’arrête là. Rien de stonien dans le nouvel opus de leur bassiste historique. Juste une collection de chansons cool et bluesy, dont le dénominateur commun est un shuffle à la J.J. Cale dont Wyman revendique l’influence. Entre reprises et compositions, notre héros déroule un disque parfait pour un road trip à travers une Amérique imaginaire.

Dylan (“Thunder on the Mountain”), Taj Mahal (“Light Rain”) ou encore Chuck E. Weiss (“Two Tone Car”) figurent au menu de ce Drive My Car au groove irrésistiblement contagieux. Encore !
