HDR10+ Layer and DTS:X Remix from EUR UHD Blu-ray disc. Universal's USA verson had hardcoded subs. Thanks to Kynch of BLURANiUM for providing us with a synced version of the lossless LaserDisc PCM audio for the Dolby Stereo soundtrack.
The DTS:X Remix's bitrate is much lower than usual. This is because it's padded 16-bit. The remix itself isn't terribly great. While some atmospherics have been reimagined and enhanced, the soundtrack has a muffled/echoey like quality to it. High frequencies in particular are a lot less prominent and rolled off as well. A combination of the difference between X-Curve equalized theatrical soundtracks corrected for home video and how this was mixed general.
We sourced a lossless 24-bit version of the original DTS 6-track mix from the USA BD. There was a caveat however- despite it being the highest quality source for it. On all BD 5.1 tracks that we looked at, the LFE information was incorrectly and erroneously left encoded in the surround channels. This would be extremely problematic and offputting especially for those using larger full range or near full range surround speakers. Typically this is corrected by the distro, or the proper fully isolated 6-track (5.1) studio master is used. Reason for this specifically is that the 35mm DTS system [lossy apt-X100] encoded the LFE information in the Ls/Rs channels and on playback this would get filtered out at 80hz with a slow rolloff by the theatrical DTS CD player/decoder. This was done for improved per ch bandwidth and to help fit on a CD. A crossfade would also occur after the LFE was filtered out of the surround channels.
For whatever dumb reason, this intermediate theatrical version with the LFE "matrixed" in the surrounds was used for the Blu-ray. We corrected this major flaw carefully following the former DTS Inc's exact spec, placing all the LFE information isolated into the respective LFE channel where it belongs, leaving just the surround channel information. There were also troublesome frame differences between the UHD Blu-ray and the FHD Blu-ray transfers which were also painstakingly fixed, along side the offsets in between full NTSC frames as well using SMPTE timecodes. The corrected 24-bit PCM stems were encoded back to DTS-MA using the latest DTS encoder from Xperi.
All regular subs tonemapped. English sub OCR'd to provide a non-SDH alternative.
