=============================================================

Copperpenny hailed from Kitchener, Ontario Canada. They started out in 1965 as the Penny Farthings, founded by Rich Wamil (keyboards, vocals) and Kenny Hollis (vocals), with Bill Mononen (guitar), Ron Hiller (bass) and Blake Barrett (drums). Mononen was replaced by Laverne McDonald, Hiller by Paul Reibling and Barrett by Bert Hamer. They signed with Columbia in 1968 for one single, and then with RCA in 1970 for an album and one single, "Stop (Wait A Minute)" pulled from the album.

While on RCA they were produced by Jack Richardson (Nimbus 9 Productions) who also produced the Guess Who for the label. It wasn't until they recorded for the London subsidiary Sweet Plum that they had success, most notably with the single "A Poor Man's Throne". The album is on the lines of pop psych (with some nice cuts including "Castles Of Sand", "That Was The Game", "It's A Rainy Day" etc.) with the one exception being the album's closer "Stop The World" where they pull out all the stops with an eight minute excursion into psychedelia, this song was included in the 1997 compilation "Marijuana Unknowns" released on (of course) the Stoned label.
