Faisant suite à la compilation Diamonds qui réunit les grands succès d'Elton John, le coffret de 8 CDs intitulé Elton: Jewel Box s'attarde plutôt aux aspects plus obscurs de sa carrière. Cette compilation a été entièrement conçue par Elton John qui a même écrit un livre, que je n'ai pas, où il explique l'importance de chaque sélection.

Les deux premiers CDs, nommés Deep Cuts, proposent des chansons méconnues mais qui apparaissent sur ses albums. Il y a ensuite trois CDs de raretés qui sont essentiellement des démos, presque tous inédits, datant de la jeunesse de John. Suivent deux CDs de Faces B de ses 45 Tours, non disponibles sur ses albums, dont 17 sont digitalisées pour la première fois. Finalement, le dernier CD, And This Is Me..., présente des chansons que John décrit dans son autobiographie comme ayant joué un rôle important dans sa vie. La compilation se termine d'ailleurs par un duo avec l'acteur Taron Egerton qui joue le rôle d'Elton John dans film biographique Rocketman. Pour référence, j'inclut l'autobiographie de John.
