Fescal /ˈfəzkal/ is the fictitious name of English-born composer and musician David S. Originally from Co. Durham, North-East England. Classically trained as a musician and composer, he has worked with various forms of exploratory media and labels for a number of years.

The main characteristic of Fescal’s compositional art is no doubt its multifarious plurality. It would be useless to attempt to explicate a specific handwriting that runs through his entire oeuvre, or to assign the guy to a particular school. He pursues his path steadily, unbridled by the restrictive debates on trends and currents.

Having fun with music as a living organism is very much a part of Fescal’s life. He enjoys the démodé, eclectic means, which nudge and tweak the Zeitgeist, knowing full well that music was never, at any time, one of the world's most serious issues. Ritual and ecstasy, entertainment and pleasure have always belonged to music - and still belong to it today.

As multi-faceted and varied as Fescal’s spectrum of musical communication may be, the composer deliberately eschews certain virulent possibilities. While there may be variations in the degrees of contouring or of the density of energy, while the formal design might follow different strategies, and while the determination of detail and whole with regard to colour and articulation may point up distinctive pre-ferences - what remains central and constant to his oeuvre are the observation and creation of pulsating life with the means of music.

Dark meandering with a purpose, Fescals Endorphin is several bits and pieces of sound that range from the rich murkiness of "Hollow Spirit" and "Moon man" to the bright ethereal "Waltzing Nature" and everything in between. "13 Door Cinema" is full of textures, with sounds morphed into something resembling the crumpling and folding of clicks. Melodies and rhythms in the conventional sense are pretty much off limits, though "sheep Dip" does have a semi-steady cadence of sorts. More often, the result is similar to "Frozen Time" with no discernible beats or discrete notes. Rather, this is about complex floating music with unusual palpable, and palatable, textures. "Atlas Air" is typical of the dark tone that permeates the 7 tracks, though light does occasionally stream through on tracks such as "Moon Man" and "Waltzing Nature" Track titles are as diverse and puzzling as the fascinating musical journey itself - Enjoy!
