Le duo Hecker Helmchen est reconnu pour le haut niveau de ses performances. Leur discographie en atteste.
Il y a vingt ans, la violoncelliste allemande Marie-Elisabeth Hecker faisait sensation en remportant à la fois le premier Prix
et deux Prix spéciaux au huitième Concours Rostropovitch.
Martin Helmchen se produit sur les scènes internationales les plus prestigieuses lui aussi depuis deux décennies.
Ensemble ils forment un duo à la ville comme à la scène et défendent la musique de chambre avec passion.
Ils ont décidé d’enregistrer cette anthologie de la musique russe pour violoncelle et piano.
Un panorama au cœur des pièces les plus belles et les plus intenses du 20ème siècle. Des versions des devraient marquer la discographie.

Leur création musicale est unique dès le début, un glissement aisé vers le langage simple de la Sonate pour violoncelle de Chostakovitch (l'unicité mélodique de Weinberg, également, dans sa Deuxième Sonate)... Les six interprétations sont dans une classe à part.

Ces deux disques offrent une richesse musicale proprement incroyable. Chacune de ces œuvres (à l'exception peut-être de la Suite italienne) représente un véritable voyage émotionnel, et le fait d'en vivre plusieurs à la suite m'a laissé un peu épuisé. Mais cet album est un formidable hommage au talent artistique de ces deux musiciens, tant individuellement qu'ensemble, en tant que couple musical puissant.
