Europe est un groupe de rock suédois créé à Stockholm en 1979, appelé Joey Tempest, chanteur de Force, et John Norum, guitariste. Bien que beaucoup attribuent cette équipe au glam metal, leur style combine des éléments du hard rock et du heavy metal, du pop rock. L’Europe a acquis une renommée mondiale dans les années 1980, après la sortie de son troisième album, The Final Countdown (1986), qui a connu un vif succès commercial: plus de trois millions d’exemplaires ont été vendus aux États-Unis. De 1986 à 1992, le groupe s'est vendu à plus de 20 millions d'exemplaires d'albums dans le monde entier et a ainsi pris la 4e place dans la liste des projets les plus réussis en Suède. En mars 1987, un groupe d'Europe s'est rendu en Union soviétique, où il a participé au programme conjoint soviéto-suédois "Jacob's Ladder" en tant qu'invité du Morning Post, interprétant les succès The Final Countdown,
