My synopsis:

After a crushing defeat in the Figure Skating Grand Prix finals, Yuri wants to quit. But his idol, the world champion, is inspired by his potential. He'll coach him to show the spectators something they've never seen.

My review:

I was expecting a gracious character in every way, but Yuri starts as the opposite. He's presented as a fat loser and I felt disappointed. But it's fascinating to see the ugly ducking slowly turn into a swan.

Yuri means "Girls Love": romance between women in a sexual or asexual way. They're all men, but it pretty much describes their relationship.

It's more subtle than in Gravitation (Info at A-P). A signer ends up falling for the hostile writer that criticized him. He has a dark past, and I liked the soundtrack.

Ice and knives can kill you. Figure skaters dance on ice while standing on knives! That's badass!

I've seen an actual person do a backflip! Instead to spin horizontally, he moved his head towards the ice, and landed on his blades! Brutal.

Only 4 people in the world can do it? Wow. It's not a traditional move, so it's not in the anime.

They have costumes too, so it's like Halloween!

Another anime about figure skating: Ginban Kaleidoscope (Info at A-P)

A figure skater has a hard time appealing to the judges because of her cold tsundere attitude. The ghost of a Canadian pilot ends up stuck in her body, feeling and seeing everything that she does with no privacy. He'll try to help her... but she's not going to like it.
