Synopsis:
Three intertwined stories: the development of a landmark obscenity trial in 1957, revelations of a rebellious artist breaks barriers for finding love, redemption and an imaginative journey through a prophetic masterpiece that rocked an entire generation in addition to create a multifaceted and multidisciplinary portrait of Howl (Howl), a work that was heard around the world.

San Francisco in 1957, a masterpiece of American literature was brought to trial. The story unfolds from three intertwined threads: the trial, the hand of the young writer Allen Ginsberg (James Franco) and the poem itself, whose animation is provided by the graphic novelist and Ginsberg collaborator Eric Drooker, which shall conceived as a \"fantasy beat\", and whose music Carter Burwell has composed. The form \"multidisciplinary\" in which he develops the film is a reflection of the striking originality of the poem.

The representation of the trial is a narrative into the fabric of a film which deals in place today, the definition of obscenity, the limits of freedom of expression and the nature of art. The young defense attorney Jake Ehrlich Allen (Jon Hamm), a celebrated champion of civil cases. The prosecutor, Ralph McIntosh (David Strathairn) tries to prove that the work is obscene as it strives to understand. The prosecution witnesses are a English teacher (Mary-Louise Parker) who considers the poem in question obscene and a college professor (Jeff Daniels) who has a very definite idea of ??what is and what is not good literature. The defense witnesses are intellectuals of the fifties (Treat Williams and Alessandro Nivola), who defend the cultural and artistic merit of the poem.

Sinopsis:

En el San Francisco de 1957, una obra maestra de la literatura estadounidense fue llevada a juicio. La historia se desarrolla a partir de tres hilos entrelazados: el juicio, de la mano del joven escritor Allen Ginsberg (James Franco) y el propio poema, cuya animación corre a cargo del novelista gráfico y colaborador de Ginsberg, Eric Drooker, el cual lo ha concebido como una “fantasía beat”, y cuya música ha compuesto Carter Burwell. La forma “multidisciplinar” en la cual se desarrolla la película es un reflejo de la sorprendente originalidad del poema.

La representación del juicio es un hilo narrativo dentro del tejido de una película que trata temas vigentes hoy en día; la definición de obscenidad, los límites de la libertad de expresión y la naturaleza del arte. El abogado defensor del joven Allen es Jake Ehrlich (Jon Hamm), un célebre adalid de las causas civiles. El fiscal, Ralp McIntosh (David Strathairn) intenta demostrar que la obra es obscena mientras se esfuerza por entenderla. Los testigos de la acusación son una profesora inglesa (Mary-Louise Parker) que considera el poema en cuestión obsceno y un profesor universitario (Jeff Daniels) que tiene una idea muy definida de lo que es y lo que no es buena literatura. Los testigos de la defensa son intelectuales de los años cincuenta (Treat Williams y Alessandro Nivola) que defienden los méritos culturales y artísticos del poema.
