When people say manga/anime live adaptation sucks, which is true by the way, but they probably also have not seen the Korean (2003) Oldboy, or, Japanese (2001) Ichi the Killer. If you have not seen the Korean (2003) Oldboy, you're missing out, it's a masterpeice of a film. Hideo Yamamoto the creator of the original series of Ichi the Killer 殺し屋1 Manga books. Staring Takashi Miike in the animation, who also directed the (2001) live action film.
