TRAMA
Quando il patriarca di una famiglia benestante e potente muore improvvisamente, lascia la moglie e la figlia alle prese con un'eredità sconvolgente che minaccia di far scivolare nel caos le loro vite e distruggerle.
Un magnate della finanza muore improvvisamente, sconvolgendo gli equilibri fragili della propria famiglia. Ad essa appartiene anche Lauren Monroe, la quale lavora presso l'ufficio del procuratore distrettuale di New York. La fortuna che ciascuno degli eredi dovrebbe acquisire in parti uguali rimane però principalmente nelle mani della madre di Lauren, Catherine, e del fratello William, un politico senza scrupoli. Lauren riceve invece solo una piccola parte del denaro e una misteriosa busta, la quale contiene le informazioni su un inquietante bunker nascosto dentro un bosco.
Al suo interno, per Lauren si svelerà un’atroce scoperta: vi è infatti rinchiuso Morgan Warner, un uomo stravolto da una prigionia durata oltre trent’anni. Pervasa dal dubbio e impaurita dalla situazione nella quale è stata coinvolta, Lauren inizia a preoccuparsi di Morgan, cercando anche di risalire alle sconvolgenti verità che il padre le ha celato per troppo tempo.
