The artist formerly known as Jane Siberry is back after too long an absence from recording with a warm, humble, and truthful collection of songs. Issa has been workshopping many of these songs in her lives shows over the years and has committed the final versions to record. The result contains some heartfelt reflections on being human and negotiating one's way through the world with humor and hope. Issa has always had a wicked sense of humor and it shines more than ever on the new recording. It is more joyful, playful, and grooving than any of her (Jane) previous offerings. Clearly Issa was a rebirth not only in name but in identity and sound. It is a perfect recording for these troubled economic times. I think my favorite track is the very timely "You Never Know" which touts, in a fresh and funky way, the value of treating everyone well, as you never who you are talking to and what their history is-the moral to value everyone. Prepare to be alternately chuckling and moved as Issa ebbs between humourous cautionary tales ("You Had A Good Thing") and heartfelt meditations on life and prayers for the future ("Send Me Someone To Love" and "When We Are Queen.") It is good to hear Issa recording and since this is first in a trilogy we can only hope for more openheartedness from our favorite Canadian chanteuse! BRAVO ISSA!

This is an incredibly wonderful CD. Issa (formerly Jane Siberry of "Calling All Angels" and "Mimi on the Beach" fame) is my superhero. She's a fearless artist who literally follows her own muse, no matter what anyone thinks. It's appropriate that my iTunes catagorizes the music's genre as unclassifiable. The most accessible songs are "Even as We Fall From Grace," "You Never Know," "When We Are Queen," and "Send Me Someone to Love." The entire album is a gem. Thank you Issa!
