l'organisation éponyme, dédiée à protéger les USA des menaces
surnaturelles. L'organisation est née dans les années 40, d'un
département lui-même fondé suite au tristement célèbre raid des
fédéraux sur Innsmouth, pour contrer les agissements des forces de
l'Axe dans le domaine occulte. Suite à une débâcle dans les années
60, Delta Green fut dissoute par le gouvernement américain, mais ses
membres reprirent leur activité de façon secrète, notamment pour
s'opposer au groupe MJ-12 accusé de pactiser avec des créatures
d'outre-espace au détriment des intérêts des citoyens américains.
Au début du XXIe siècle, le gouvernement rétablit cependant
l’opération, dans un cadre non officiel.DeltaGreenest née dans le magazine cthulhien UnspeakableOathen 1993, comme cadre de campagne visant à mettre à jour les
scénarios modernes de l'Appel de Cthulhu. Ce cadre fut revu et
étendu par ses auteurs, sous la forme d'un supplément pour l'Appel
de Cthulhu, pour une parution chez Pagan en 1997 (traduit par
Descartes en 1999, réédité en 2011 par Sans-Détour). Delta Green
est depuis passée dans l'escarcelle de la société Arc Dream
Publishing, qui a lancé en 2015 une campagne de financement
participatif afin de publier une version autonome du jeu, débarrassée
des liens avec L'Appel (le MJ n'est ainsi plus un Gardien des
Arcanes, mais un Handler,le superviseur des Agents) et la compétence emblématique Mythede Cthulhu laissela place à Unnatural(quifonctionne pratiquement de la même manière mais couvre un domaine
plus large).
Lesystème de jeu, bien qu'il en soit différent, présente malgré
tout des ressemblances avec le vieux système BRPmotorisantl'Appel. Les personnages retrouvent donc des caractéristiques
connues (Force, Constitution, Dextérité, Intelligence, Pouvoir,
FormatCharisme, variant sur une échelle de 3 à 18) et les
caractéristiques secondaires associées (points de vie, Volonté,
Santé Mentale). Une caractéristique appelée BreakingPointpermet de repérer le moment où un agent confronté à des visions
trop horribles va commencer à craquer. Un Agent disposera d'Attaches
(Bonds)montrant l'état de ses relations avec des personnes (famille) ou
groupes (amis, etc.) et des motivations. Les premières sont
chiffrées et évolueront en fonction des activités de l'Agent, les
secondes ne sont pas chiffrées et disparaitront lorsque l'agent
arrivera à son Point de Rupture, pour être remplacées par des
troubles mentaux. L'Agent sera également défini par ce qu'il sait
faire, des compétences, exprimées en pourcentages. L'expérience
est comptée pour les tentatives manquées (on apprend de ses échecs)
: à la fin de la séance, toute compétence ayant subi un échec
augmente de 1%.
Notes:Ontrouvera, dans le pack proposé, quelques livrets en français
(règles de base et scénarios), et ... beaucoup de matériel en
anglais avec - notamment - des versions de travail de certains
suppléments, qui intéresseront le collectionneur de pièces rares,
et des romans au format PDF et epub.
Lasérie des FairfieldProject Shotgun Scenarios correspond à de cours modules de quelques
pages, ou de simples synopsis, pouvant être joués tels que, pour
des parties "à l'arrachée" avec peu de joueurs, ou
développés de façon plus profonde. Nombre d'entre-eux sont de
vrais petits bijoux.
Enfin,il est à noter que de très nombreux suppléments ou scénarios
inclus dans ce pack, sont signés DennisDetwiller, le "pape" de Delta Green.
