The band "Janus", although it consisted of English musicians, was formed in Germany, in Krefeld (North Rhine-Westphalia) in 1970. Despite the fact that the band managed to sign a contract with the prestigious label "Harvest" along with such bands as "Deep Purple" and "Pink Floyd", success at that time passed them by. In late 1971, "Janus" recorded the classic album "Gravedigger". It was released in January 1972. Remarkably, the entire album, including mixing, was put together in 24 hours of studio time. For two years, the band was based in Holland and had very few live performances. Only in late 1973 did "Janus" come to England and managed to give a few concerts. Moreover, the guys advertised themselves as a German band. They really pretended to be German, and even diligently imitated a German accent. Fun fact: Janus were the only band in history to be thrown out of Liverpool's famous Cavern Club for being too loud
