I'm not a June of 44 afficianado and know nothing about them, their pedigree, or their history; although by their guest musicians, it looks like these White Guys like to hang out with Asian chicks. I checked out this album after liking some tracks I listened to off of epitonic.com. My uninformed listen thinks of this album as "indie-prog" - their sound is indie, but their structures and approach seem pretty "progressive" or art-rocky. This is a loose, mellow album without discernible melodies, but an interesting, even experimental, sound and vibe. I guess I would recommend this to people who are into both indie and prog rock. Solid, killer drumming.
