RELEASE NOTES

  • Source #1: Shout Factory Replacement Disc USA UHD Blu-ray (2025): Video - Thanks TMT

  • Source #2: Embassy Home Entertainment JPN LaserDisc [EHL-1094]: Original dolby stereo mix.

  • Source #3: Sony Pictures USA UHD Blu-ray (2016): Atmos, commentary and subs.

  • Source #4: Sony Pictures USA UHD Blu-ray (2016): Additional subs.

  • Source #5: Sony Pictures USA Blu-ray (2016): Additional subs.

  • Source #6: Sony Pictures EUR Blu-ray (2016): Additional subs.

  • Source #7: Columbia/Tri-Star NTSC DVD (2004): Named chapters.

  • Source #8, #9, #10, #11: iTunes, Netflix, Viaplay WEB-DL: Additional srts. PMTP WEB-DL for HDR10+ metadata.
Used superior video from the Shout Factory Replacement Disc USA UHD Blu-ray (worth mentioning it's the replacement disc, as the previous Shout had a glitch around 21m 31s, so to avoid any misunderstanding) as the Shout doesn't have the low pass filter that's on the Sony Pictures USA UHD Blu-ray from 2021 with Dolby Vision (or the worse HDR10 only release from 2016). Shout retains more high frequency grain and detail.
Shout Factory USA UHD Blu-ray (2024), Sony Pictures USA UHD Blu-ray (2021) Slow.pics
Demuxed with the latest DGDemux with merge DV function. Crop was corrected to top 277, bottom 277.
There's two WEB-DLs with HDR10+ metadata, one matches (PMTP) the Sony/Shout grade, the other doesn't (iTunes), so the PMTP HDR10+ metadata was extracted, synced and injected with the latest hdr10plus_tool.
    HDR Grade Check: Slow.pics

    HDR10+ Plot: Slow.pics
This includes the true original dolby stereo from the JPN LaserDisc as the Tri-Star PAL DVD has more roll-off and cut-off. Both of these tracks are the original dolby stereo. The UHDs only have downmixes from the Atmos, which were mislabeled as "Original Theatrical Audio".
Atmos from the Sony USA UHD Blu-ray 2016 has slightly more dynamic range and less roll-off, also its compatibility is better than the Shout, in order not to have any positive delay, 24 frames were trimmed from the Shout. Atmos and compatibility were then synced.
Commentary from the Sony USA UHD Blu-ray 2016; it's the same track as on the previous Sony Blu-rays with slightly less roll-off than Shout and with dolby surround flag. So synced said track to the remux.
    Audio Comparisons: Atmos, Original Stereo.
PGS from the Shout has a worse font and is the same as the Sony. So only kept the Sony ones. All PGS and SRTs from web were synced.
Named chapters from NTSC DVD synced to I-frames of the remux, with one added End Credits stop. "Start" initial chapter renamed to a better option, Opening Credits.
