Гитарист Deerhunter, Lockett Pundt, завершил свой дебютный альбом под псевдонимом Lotus Plaza. Все инструменты он записывал самостоятельно, за исключением барабанов на Different Mirrors, это Бредфорд Кокс выстукивает, тем самым давая знать о своем присутствии. И оно чувствуется – альбом напоминает тех же Deerhunter и Atlas Sound, прослушиваются те же трюки. Но усомниться в искренности Lotus Plaza не выходит, слишком много себя влил сюда музыкант.
В первую очередь, это легкий расслабляющий шугейз, который сейчас почти никто не умеет делать. Как Slowdive, разбавленный в дроуне, где изможденный и замечтавшийся Локет поет сам себе в глубине звуковой ауры, уединившись в этой приятной атмосфере. Он поймал тонкую грань между акварельным, расплывчатым звучанием и ясной поп песней. Так его жидкая энергия обретает свою неуловимую форму – в искаженных гитарах, поскрипываниях, отчужденном пении, водопаде колокольчиков, дрожащих шумах, глубоком эмбиенте и т.д.
Как мерцающее августовское море, The Floodlight Collective светится сам в себе, в своем очаровательном и наивном одиночестве, прибивает к берегу свою чистую легкую пену и красивые твердые ракушки. Пусть каждый как умеет, поднимет свое артериальное давление, завяжет глаза черной повязкой, и послушает его. Поистине божественный прилив, восьмой трек - Antoine, эта волна звука, смоет вас с вашего берега, если только не бросаться в неё песком. И кто бы мог подумать, это ведь всего-лишь гитарист Deerhunter.
