In 1994, Mark Feldman received the 1st Place Award from DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE's critics for "Talent Deserving Wider Recognition." He has performed as a soloist with the WDR Radio Symphony of Köln, Germany, the Basel Sinfonietta of Switzerland, recorded as a Nashville studio musician on over 200 recordings (including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, George Jones and TV Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart), made over 45 albums as a sideman with the likes of Lee Konitz, John Zorn, Time Berne, Ray Anderson, George Gruntz, Don Byron, Anthony Davis, Guy Klucevsek and Bobby Previte and was a member of Arcado Trio.

MUSIC FOR VIOLIN ALONE is a collection of compositions synthesizing new music, romantic virtuoso violin gestures and improvisation. With its fresh non-academic approach, this debut release injects new life into solo violin performance.

The re-release of an important solo violin recital by one of the world’s most versatile and accomplished virtuosos. Adept at jazz, classical, noise improvisation, country music and much, much more, Mark Feldman is a perfect example of a 21st century musician. One of the most sought after players in the downtown scene, he has perform e d as a soloist with the WDR Radio Symphony of Koln, the Basel Sinfonietta of Switzerland, recorded as a Nashville studio musician on over 200 recordings (including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, George Jones and Jimmy Swaggart), made over 100 albums as a sideman with the likes of Lee Konitz, John Zorn, Dave Douglas, John Ambercrombie, Tim Berne, Ray Anderson, Don Byron, Anthony Davis and Guy Klucevsek. He appears on over thirty Tzadik releases and performs regularly with his own ensembles and in duo recital with his wife, pianist Sylvie Courvoisier.
