There's not much that hasn't been said about Juan
Atkins' opening release on Metroplex - the
understated 12" that turned a generation onto this
new sound they called Techno. No one could foresee
how important the birth of Atkins' Model 500
project would be, and how this new label would
help shape 20 years of dance music culture. "No
UFO's" hasn't dated in over 20 years. Still
futuristic sounding with it's obscure, raw effects
and vocoders from outer space layered over THAT
bassline. Equally as groundbreaking is "Future" on
the B-side, which is like another take of the
Cybotron classic "Cosmic Cars" with slightly
different rhythm structures and a whole lotta
funk. A true Detroit Techno classic...
