On the occasion of this remake, the plot of the original Golden Axe was practically rewritten from scratch: the beautiful but deadly Tyris Flare sees exterminate his tribe by the army of the mighty Death Adder, which is not happy with the destruction potential prejudice also captures the white dragon protector of the Amazons. Motivated by a desire for revenge, the warrior part then in search of the evil tyrant can only kill him appease his wrath. As the title of the game, in fact, in some cases we will have the chance to jump on the back of four types of creatures very different: a kind of lizard that can breathe fire and strike down adversaries swinging his tail (just like that of the original Golden Axe), a strange cross between a goat and a tiger, who can make himself invisible and shoot lightning bolts from the horns, a huge beast like a rhinoceros, which can outperform whatever is in its path and create devastating shockwaves on the ground, and finally, a being like a giant gorilla, who with his power can literally tear apart enemies and create vortices with his fists. Each animal has an energy bar independent from that of Tyris, but it can be unsaddled with relative ease and he can count on the support of the creatures only for short periods: hardly able to complete internships while remaining in the saddle to our favorite monster .
