Systems and Software Testing Techniques and Framework is a book which aims at providing a brief description of various methods and approaches required for software testing. Testing is an examination of a product or a system in order to obtain objective information about its quality. From the business aspect, testing provides a risk assessment during implementation of software solutions. There are different testing techniques and the role of testing is to check whether the product satisfies technical requirements, whether it works as expected, and whether it is ready to operate in production environments. There are several levels of testing during project development:
- Unit testing - testing of software units.
- Integration testing - testing the interfaces between the solution’s components.
- System testing - testing of the complete system.
- System integration testing - check system integration with external (3rd party) systems.
- Regression testing - testing the basic functionality of the new system’s versions after fixing certain errors or introducing new functionalities.
- Validation (re-test) - check errors corrections in the new versions of the system.
- User Acceptance testing - testing generally performed by the users in order to check whether the supplied product meets their needs and whether the level of product quality is sufficient for production
