Описание: REALbasic (RB)— среда программирования подобная Visual Basic.
REALbasic был создан Эндрю Бэрри (англ. Andrew Barry). Изначально он назывался CrossBasic благодаря своей возможности компилировать одинаковый программный код под Mac OS и Java (хотя среда разработки программного обеспечения работала только на Mac). В 1997 году CrossBasic был приобретён FYI Software, которая переименовала его в REALbasic, а компания была переименована в REAL Software. С этого времени они прекратили поддержку платформы Java, заменив её Windows-платформой и поддержкой баз данных. Сейчас IDE доступна под Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X и Linux и может компилировать приложения для Windows (Windows 2000 и выше), Mac OS X (PowerPC, Intel и Universal Binary) и x86 Linux.

Особенности языка
RB — сильнотипизированный язык программирования с минимальным неявным преобразованием типов, поддерживающий простое наследование и интерфейсы, классы, методы и свойства классов, автоматическое управление памятью, реализованное через подсчёт ссылок, и перегрузку операторов.

With the REALbasic Professional Edition you write one application and compile native executables for three operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux).

Debug by Remote Control
REALbasic Professional Edition comes with a remote debugger. With it you can run your app on one computer and watch your code execute on another! With REALbasic Professional Edition you can build front-ends to databases in Oracle, Postgres, ODBC, MySQL and, of course, our own REAL SQL Server. Our database API abstracts you from the details of each server so you can switch database servers without rewriting all of your code.

REALbasic comes with SQLite, the fast, industry standard, practically incorruptible database engine. REALbasic Professional Edition adds AES 256 encryption to keep your data safe.

Build for the command line
With REALbasic Professional Edition you can build applications with no user interface that run in the background even while no user is logged in

Secure network communications via SSL
REALbasic Professional Edition supports SSL, including the ability to switch to and from secure mode on demand. It also supports secure listening, which is required for SSL-enabled servers.

Building your own server was never this easy
REALbasic Professional Edition includes the ServerSocket class, which enables the rapid development of highly scalable TCP/IP server applications. The ServerSocket automatically manages incoming connections and scales to thousands of simultaneous connections.

Create reusable custom controls
REALbasic Professional Edition enables you to create reusable custom controls that save time, reduce code complexity and promote a consistent user interface. Container controls may be exported and reused by any other REALbasic Professional Edition user.

Build network-aware applications
REALbasic Professional Edition includes the AutoDiscovery class, which is used to create network-aware applications that require no setup by the end user. A REALbasic application that uses AutoDiscovery can find other AutoDiscovery-enabled applications on the network and establish a connection automatically.
