English Plot:
When Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams.

Η ταινία μας μεταφέρει στη μαγευτική πόλη του Ρίο Ντε Τζανέιρο και στο πλούσιο τροπικό δάσος της Βραζιλίας και έχει ως ήρωα τον Μπλου, έναν παπαγάλο τόσο σπάνιο που πιστεύει ότι είναι ο τελευταίος του είδους του. Όταν όμως ανακαλύπτει ότι υπάρχει κι άλλος σαν κι αυτόν- και μάλιστα θηλυκού γένους- αφήνει το βολικό κλουβί του στη μικρή πόλη της Μινεσότα και πετάει για το Ρίο. Αλλά, όπως αποδεικνύεται, ο οικόσιτος Μπλου και η εντελώς ανεξάρτητη παπαγαλίνα Τζούελ δεν δείχνουν να είναι φτιαγμένοι ο ένας για τον άλλον. Απροσδόκητα θα βρεθούν μαζί για να ζήσουν μια περιπέτεια-εμπειρία ζωής, κατά τη διάρκεια της οποίας μαθαίνουν πολλά για τη φιλία, την αγάπη, το θάρρος και τις προκλήσεις της ζωής.
