In RoboCop , the year was 2028 and the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is in robotics technology center. Abroad, his drones have been used for years for military purposes , but in America , its use was banned for law enforcement . OmniCorp now wants to bring his controversial technology for home and seek a golden opportunity to do so. When Alex Murphy ( Joel Kinnaman ) - a husband and loving father , and a good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit - is severely injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees his chance to create an official police part man , part robot. The OmniCorp foresees the implementation of a RoboCop in each city so as to generate even more billions for their shareholders , but they lacked a factor : there's a man inside the machine .
