Soft Machine were an English rock band from Canterbury. They were one of the central bands in the Canterbury scene, and helped pioneer the progressive rock genre. Though they achieved little commercial success, they are considered by Allmusic to be "one of the more influential bands of their era, and certainly one of the most influential underground ones."
This ‘Kings of Canterbury’ album was released 23 September 2003 by Snapper Music. Contained on two CDs is live material recorded between 1969 - 1970 and featuring the "Live At The Paradiso" set as Disc One and tracks from "Facelift - Croydon 1970" and "Live 1970" make up Disc Two.
Soft Machine Are: Daevid Allan (vocals, guitar); Kevin Ayers (vocals, bass); Robert Wyatt (vocals, drums); Mike Ratledge (keyboards); Hugh Hopper (bass).
