Spectrum were one of Australia's premier progressive rock groups of the 1970's. Their first single (released in 1971) was "I'll Be Gone" which shot to the top of the charts and became one of the most instantly recognizable Aussie songs of all time. This was followed by their critically acclaimed debut album Spectrum Part One and in 1972 a stunning double album titled Milesago which is now considered to be one of the most progressive Australian albums ever released.
They were an extremely popular live act but despite this, their complex music made it difficult to please dance-type audiences and it was affecting them financially so it was decided to develop the group as two separate entities. The result of this split personality concept was the creation of a new band called Indelible Murtceps (which is Spectrum spelt backwards) which gave them the opportunity to continue their progressive style as Spectrum yet promote a dance sound as Murtceps. As the latter they had chart success with the single "Esmeralda" (1972) and the album Warts Up Your Nose (1973)
This CD was released by Raven Records and is a compilation from both versions of the group.
