Tommy Patel (Eric Idle) is a thrusting young executive who's dear, sweet Indian mother (Charu Bala Chokshi, better-known as Meera from the Fat Fighters group in Little Britain) suddenly drops the bombshell that he was in fact adopted. After a little probing around to uncover his roots, it soon becomes apparent that he is actually the rightful heir to a right royal fortune and the title of "Duke of Bournemouth". Unfortunately there was a little mix up when he was a baby and he was inadvertently switched with another baby, an American called Henry (Rick Moranis). Tommy and Henry were recently forced into a business relationship that soon blossomed into a rather pleasurable friendship... until Tommy realised that he is the real Duke of Bournemouth (aka Thomas Henry Butterfly Rainbow Peace) and "That Bloody Henry" is living the wrong life... and loving every minute of it. Now Tommy can't help but plot against his new buddy Henry, with the unwanted help of a man called Shadgrind (John Cleese).

Apart from the obvious talents of Eric, Rick & John, SPLITTING HEIRS was also written by Eric Idle and boasts a brilliant supporting cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones and Barbara Hershey.
