The Stone Temple Pilots Original Album Series box set includes the band's first five albums: Core (1992); Purple (1994); Tiny Music... Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop (1996); No. 4 (1999), and Shangri-La Dee Da (2001). All of these albums were released before the band's temporary disbandment in 2003. Their debut album, Core, proved their most successful, achieving 8x platinum status. Thanks to this rapid start, the band became one of the most popular rock bands of the 1990s.
Stone Temple Pilots has been active since 1986 (with a hiatus from 2003 to 2008). Throughout their history, the band has released six studio albums, which have sold over 40 million copies. Fifteen of their songs have reached the Billboard Top 10 (six songs and the album Purple have reached number one). The band won a Grammy in 1994 for the song Plush from their debut album Core
