The Knife est un duo electronique formé de Karin Dreijer Andersson la soeur et d'Olof Dreijer le frère.
Ils sortent leurs albums sur leur propre label Rabid records, fondé en 1998 avec des membres de leur ancien groupe Honey Is Cool.
Plutôt discret, le groupe se refusant à toute apparence publique ou bien caché derrière des masques étranges,
a pourtant gagné le grammy award suédois du meilleur groupe pop en 2003 puis en 2007.
Ce n'est pourtant qu'à partir de 2005-2006 que le groupe gagne en notoriété en dehors de ses frontières, "Silent Shout"
devient un best-seller et le webzine Pitchfork en fait son album de l'année, il sera d'ailleurs réédité, un an plus tard,
avec un extra DVD qui contient les images de leur tout premier show, à Londres en 2005.
En 2008, le groupe explique participer à l'écriture d'un opéra intitulé "Tomorrow, In A Year", hommage à L'Origine Des Espèces de Darwin.
En 2013, après un gros teasing digne des plus grosses productions commerciales, The Knife est de retour
avec son opus le plus expérimental "Shaking The Habitual".
Karin et Olof annoncent fin Aout 2013 qu'ils mettront un terme à The Knife
après le dernier concert de la tournée qui aura lieu
le 8 Novembre au Iceland Airwaves Festival de Reykjavík.
