The Frozen Autumn est un groupe de darkwave italien, formé en mai 1993,
caractérisé par un mélange de chant mélancolique, de gothic-wave atmosphérique et
d'électropop des années 1980.
The Frozen Autumn a déclaré que leurs collègues du label Clan of Xymox
avaient été leur principale source d'inspiration au fil des ans. En 2000, Diego
Merletto et Arianna furent invités par Ronny Moorings, fondateur de
Clan of Xymox, à remixer son nouveau titre, « There's No Tomorrow », inclus
sur le single. Ils collaborèrent une seconde fois lorsque Moorings remixa « Ashes
», qui figurait en bonus sur l'album Is Anybody There? (2005). Le duo s'inspirait
également de Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, les Sisters of Mercy,
Xmal Deutschland, David Sylvian et Depeche Mode.
Après 18 mois de travail sur le troisième album de The Frozen Autumn, Emotional
Screening Device est sorti en avril 2002 et a été salué comme le meilleur album du
groupe à ce jour.
