The Police est un groupe rock britannique, originaire de Londres, en Angleterre. Il est issu de la génération new wave et post-punk, et formé par les Britanniques Sting au chant et à la basse, Andy Summers à la guitare électrique et l'Américain Stewart Copeland à la batterie. Summers a rapidement remplacé en 1977 le Français Henry Padovani. Le groupe est très populaire vers la fin des années 1970 et au début des années 1980 grâce à leur musique rock, mélangeant jazz, punk et reggae.
