Prone to earnest ruminations on love and heartbreak, as well as explosive bursts of feedback-drenched electronic vistas (check out the blissful, orgasmic coda on opener "Knut"), the Unwinding Hours represent a more disciplined version of their former selves (on the aforementioned "Knut" and the serpentine "Peaceful Liquid Shell"), the duo sounds like the perfect union of Sigur RÛs and Sunny Day Real Estate. The Unwinding Hours are masters of their medium, and while they may clearly reside in the Travis/Elbow/Coldplay space-time continuum (at least their name is longer), there's no denying the quality of their craft. ~ James Christopher Monger
