⚡ Diagnose cavitation, suction recirculation, air entrainment and vortexing from symptoms, noise and vibration
⚡ Troubleshoot a pump systematically — low flow, low head, high vibration, high power — from symptom to root cause
⚡ Select a pump from vendor curves, apply impeller trim correctly, and avoid the oversizing that causes chronic unreliability
⚡ Understand what happens away from the best efficiency point and where minimum continuous flow comes from
⚡ Apply API 610 requirements — pump types, materials classes, nozzle load tables and the datasheet fields that carry risk
⚡ Specify seals, bearings, lubrication and auxiliary systems, and recognise the auxiliary failures that stop the pump
⚡ Control installation quality — alignment, soft foot, baseplate stiffness, grouting and nozzle loads
⚡ Commission and performance test to the relevant tolerance bands, and build a condition monitoring and reliability programme

❗ Any engineering or technical background is enough to follow the course
❗ Comfortable with basic algebra — every calculation is worked step by step
❗ Helpful but not essential: some familiarity with reading a pump curve or a P&ID
❗ No software or purchases needed — this is an applied machinery course
