Alexandre Desplat participe pour la première fois à une réalisation
de Luc Besson mais retrouve le studio EuropaCorp après "Michou d'Auber"
(Thomas Gilou, 2007) et "Rire et châtiment" (Isabelle Doval, 2003). Le
réalisateur fait sa troisième infidélité à son compositeur Eric Serra
après ANGEL-A (avec Anja Garbarek en 2005) et MALAVITA (avec Evgueni et
Sacha Galperine en 2013). C'est une fois libéré de "Rogue One: A Star
Wars Story" qu'il a abandonné que Desplat a pu accepter cette
proposition. On y entend également les chansons originales "A Million On
My Soul" par Alexiane (à la fin du film), "Bubble Dance" par Julien
Rey, "Space Oddity" de David Bowie et "Jamming" de Bob Marley.
Luc Besson voulait une partition orchestrale, avec beaucoup de mélodies.
Il fallait que j'écrive de bonnes mélodies, mais que je les écrive pour
un énorme orchestre symphonique. C'était la première fois que
j'enregistrais une bande-originale avec un orchestre symphonique en
France (à Radio France). Lorsque je suis monté sur le pupitre pour la
première fois, face à l'orchestre, j'ai tout de suite trouvé ça
grandiose. La sonorité et la musicalité étaient magnifiques.
