Simon Williams, acteur raté au passé chaotique, voit sa vie basculer lorsqu’un réalisateur excentrique décide de relancer "Wonder Man", un film de super-héros culte qu’il idolâtrait enfant. Bien décidé à décrocher le rôle, Simon se lance dans un casting improbable — avec pour mentor inattendu Trevor Slattery, ancien imposteur du Mandarin, désormais acteur désabusé mais étrangement lucide.

Dans les coulisses d’Hollywood, entre egos surdimensionnés, tournages déjantés et pressions médiatiques, Simon découvre que devenir un héros à l’écran pourrait bien réveiller en lui des pouvoirs insoupçonnés… et des conflits bien réels.
