Boy è il primo album degli U2, pubblicato il 20 ottobre 1980 e prodotto da Steve Lillywhite. L'album tratta del diventare adulto, argomento che funge da filo conduttore nei testi. L'album è stato registrato negli Windmill Lane Studios a Dublino. Alcune delle canzoni erano già state suonate durante i concerti prima dei lavori in studio (come Out of Control, Stories for Boys e Twilight), altre canzoni sono nate in studio (An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart e The Ocean). In tutte le canzoni The Edge ha usato una Fender Stratocaster ed una Gibson Explorer.
