--- Two founding members of the Jefferson Airplane, lead guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bass player Jack Casady, teamed up to form Hot Tuna in 1970. Their self-titled debut album captures a live performance of straight ahead blues songs.
--- "First Pull Up, Then Pull Down," the second Hot Tuna album, continued the band s focus on classic blues songs but with a more electrified sound complemented with jazzy licks from violinist, Papa John Creach who also played with the Jefferson Airplane.
--- Released in 1972 Burgers was Hot Tuna s first studio album and most of the songs on it were written by guitarist, Jorma Kaukonen. The album s broad influences span blues, rock, country and the shimmering folk sound of Water Song.
--- The Phosphorescent Rat was released in 1974 after Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady had left the Jefferson Airplane with which they had played since its inception. This album is dominated by Kaukonen s songs, such as the soulful I See The Light.
--- Yellow Fever was the second record Hot Tuna put out in 1975 and like their previous releases it included both original guitar-rock songs written by Jorma Kaukonen and versions of iconic blues numbers, like the Bo Carter song Hot Jelly Roll Blues.
--- The fifth Hot Tuna album, America's Choice, was released in 1975 and it featured a harder, rock-focused sound. But the band continued paying homage to the blues, including a cover of the classic song by Robert Johnson, Walkin' Blues.
--- Hot Tuna's Hoppkorv found the group working in a more standard, pop-length, rock song vein, with original tunes like Watch the North Wind Rise alongside covers of oldie hits like Buddy Holly's It's So Easy and Chuck Berry's Talkin' 'Bout You.
